We now welcome the full on, gore-soaked red band trailer for the remake of Evil Dead. Take a peek – if you dare.
From the looks of this first proper glimpse, the movie, produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell and directed by Fede Alvarez, doesn’t hold back and doesn’t skimp on the horror.
It’s also more of a reinvention than a remake, with a group of young ‘uns (including Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas and Lou Taylor Pucci) standing in for Campbell’s Ash as the unfortunates who head to a spooky cabin in the woods, discover the Necronomicon, read chunks and unleash terrible evil.
Plus Raimi and Alvarez certainly appear to have put their cast through similar tribulations to the ones Campbell endured, tweaking elements here and there (the grabby trees seem even worse this time around). Question is, can it be as wildly entertaining as the lo-fi classic that spawned this new take?
