BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

WE HAVE A POPE Available On SundanceNOW

Nanni Moretti's WE HAVE A POPE (HABEMUS PAPAM) is now available for the first time on a digital platform after making its rounds at the 2011 Cannes and Toronto International film festivals.

The latest whip-smart comedy from Palme d'Or-winning director Moretti, WE HAVE A POPE chronicles what happens when a newly-elected pope (cinema legend Michel Piccoli) has a crisis of faith, feeling daunted by the demands of the position and the carnival of characters that suddenly attend to him. Funny, poignant, and always human, it's a film that resonates for audiences of all faiths and tastes.

The film stars Michel Piccoli, Jerzy Stuhr, Renato Scarpa, Franco Graziosi, Camillo Milli, Roberto Nobile, Ulrich Von Dobschütz.

Nanni Moretti (THE SON'S ROOM, CARO DIARIO) joins forces with the great French actor Michel Piccoli (CONTEMPT, I'M GOING HOME) to tell the story of Melville, a cardinal who suddenly finds himself elected as the next Pope. Never the front runner and completely caught off guard, he panics as he's presented to the faithful in St. Peter's Square. To prevent a world wide crisis, the Vatican's spokesman calls in an unlikely psychiatrist who is neither religious or all that committed, played by Moretti, to find out what is wrong with the new Pope. As the world nervously waits outside, inside the therapist tries to find a solution. But Cardinal Melville is adamant: he does not want the job, or at least needs time to think it over. What follows is a marvelous insight into the concept of a human being existing behind the title of God’s representative on Earth.

HABEMUS PAPAM is the latest film by Moretti to make wonderful use of humor while dealing with serious issues and continue to showcase his deep humanism.  Stream the film on SundanceNOW at: http://www.sundancenow.com/film/we-have-a-pope/943

WE HAVE A POPE is also available on IFC Films Video on Demand, and digital outlets: Amazon Streaming, PS3 Playstation Unlimited, XBOX Zune, Google PLAY and YouTube.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
