BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

The Hunger Games Scribe To Write "Sinatra" For Scorsese

Universal Pictures has set Billy Ray to script Sinatra, the film Martin Scorsese will direct about the life of singer-actor Frank Sinatra. The film will be produced by Scott Rudin, Mandalay’s Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman, Scorsese’s Sikelia and the iconic singer’s daughter, Tina Sinatra. It was Guber and Schulman who brought in the project to the studio after they secured life and music rights from Frank Sinatra Enterprises, which is a joint venture of the estate of Ol’ Blue Eyes and the Warner Music Group. Phil Alden Robinson had originally been hired as the writer.

I take this as a good sign that Scorsese is getting serious about bringing to life the seminal singer of the 20th Century, who parlayed that golden voice into a trip from New Jersey to Hollywood. Where he had the world on a string as he romanced the most beautiful women in town, and cut a swath with his Rat Pack pals and made films that included The Manchurian Candidate, From Here To Eternity and Pal Joey.

Scorsese is currently directing Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role in Red Granite-funded The Wolf Of Wall Street, which also stars Jonah Hill, Jon Favreau, Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin and Kyle Chandler. Scorsese hasn’t committed to his next film, and this now stands tall with several he has been developing. They include an adaptation of the Shusaku Endo novel Silence, as well as a mob film re-team with Robert De Niro in The Irishman, a Steve Zaillian-scripted adaptation of the Charles Brandt book I Heard You Paint Houses.

This comes at a prolific time for Ray. Besides The Hunger Games, Ray has scripted to direct a remake of The Secret in Their Eyes, an untitled project with J.J. Abrams, The Thin Man, the Joe Roth-produced Pan at Sony, and the recently completed Captain Phillips, the Paul Greengrass-directed Somali pirate drama for Sony Pictures that stars Tom Hanks. He’s repped by CAA and Management 360.

Now, the question still remains, who can play Frank Sinatra in the definitive biopic, as well as presumably everyone from Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Marilyn Monroe and JFK?

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...

Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit...
