"Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara is in talks to add yet more sizzle to the cast of Robert Rodriguez's "Machete Kills," which already features her fellow femme fatales Jessica Alba, Amber Heard and Michelle Rodriguez.
Danny Trejo returns to star in the Kyle Ward-scripted sequel alongside series newcomers Mel Gibson and Demian Bichir.
Pic, which starts production this month, finds the titular ex-federale (Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to take down a cartel leader and stop an arms dealer (Gibson) from launching a deadly missile.
Vergara is in talks to play the leather-clad Madame Desdemona, whose Mexican harlots have information that Machete needs.
A Quick Draw production, "Machete Kills" is being financed by Alexander Rodnyansky, who is producing with Rodriguez. Other producers include Quick Draw's Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic, as well as Sergei Bespalov and Rick Schwartz.
Vergara has been nominated for a pair of Emmys and Golden Globes for her perf as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC's hit sitcom "Modern Family." Colombian thesp recently appeared in Garry Marshall's "New Year's Eve" and the Farrelly brothers' comedy "The Three Stooges."
