BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Tom Cruise Could Star In We Mortals Are. Based On Japanese Graphic Novel All You Need Is Kill

Tom Cruise is a guy who likes to stay busy.

With two films in the can (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Rock of Ages), one filming (One Shot) and another (Horizons) lined up after that, Cruise is solidifying his interest in starring in the Warner Bros. sci-fi actioner We Mortals Are, with negotiations expected to begin soon.

Based on the 2004 Japanese graphic novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and Yoshitoshi Abe, the film would have Cruise playing a soldier defending Earth from attacking aliens. Killed in battle, he is then stuck in a time loop that causes him to relive that day over and over while gaining strength and skill each time as he tries to change his fate.

Dante Harper and Joby Harold wrote the adapted screenplay.

Has Ghost Protocol hitting theaters December 21 and Rock of Ages opening in June. With Paramount's One Shot shooting now for a February 2013 release, and Universal's Horizons lined up to start production in the new year for a summer 2013 opening, Cruise could conceivably film Mortals next summer.
Oddly for Cruise, who likes to mix up roles and genres, Horizons and We Mortals Are both involve sci-fi settings and conceits involving a soldier battling an alien race.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
