The History of Comic Book Heroes- Captain America Was The First

“The History of Comic Book Heroes” : While huge comic book fans are very much aware, there are many that don’t know the historical timeline of comic book heroes and who followed who. The most historically impactful aspect of Captain America is that he was the first and he came before all others.


Captain America’s First comic appearance was in March 1941

Real Name: Bruce Banner

Ability: A pioneer in gamma ray technology, Banner fell victim to an accident that causes him (often uncontrollably) to turn into a much larger humanoid green monster with unparalleled strength and aggression

Real Name: Thor Odinson

Ability: Thor is the Norse god of thunder. He wields the weapon Mjolnir (a hammer) which gives him the ability to fly, bend time (teleport), conjure lightning and inhuman strength

Real Name: Dr. Hank Pym
Ability: A very ingenious scientist that created a helmet which allowed him to summon and control billions of ants at a time.

Ability: Though unclear the origin of her ability (mutant/science experiment/anomaly) the wasp has the ability to shrink to the size of an insect. She also has insect wings which she uses to fly.

Ability: An amazing weapons developer who created a metal battle suit that he wears that grants him flight, strength, as well as defense against his enemies.

Abilities: Though he is blind, daredevil has extremely heightened senses allowing him to use a sort of echolocation radar as well as being a martial arts master.

Real Name: Elektra (a surname has never been used)
Abilities: Elektra is a very skilled female assassin with no super human powers though she is held on the same level as the rest of the super heroes in the Marvel Universe

Real Name: Daniel Thomas Rand-K’ai
Abilities: Iron fist has the ability to focus his Chi into and enhance his speed, agility, strength, reflexes etc. to extraordinary levels

Real Name: Luke Cage sometimes called power man
Abilities: As a result of controversial experiments Luke Cage has extremely tough skin as well as strength and stamina as well as slightly accelerated healing

-Black Panther
Real Name: T’Challa
Abilities: Black Panther is a chief of a mysterious and powerful clan and is given powers by their panther god to be extremely intelligent and in the highest form of physical ability. This allows him to create his own gadgets and computers as well.

Real Name: Carol Susan Jane Danvers
Abilities: Ms. Marvel initially possessed superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability, and a limited precognitive seventh sense

Abilities: Storm has the ability to control the weather

Abilities: Blade is a sort of hybrid vampire which gives him superhuman strength, speed, agility and has a accelerated healing factor. He has no weaknesses associated with vampires. He is also a master martial artist.

Abilities: Iceman can freeze water and the vapor in the air into ice and create complex structures as a result. He also creates temperatures so cold his body turns into organic ice.

After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by “vita-rays.” Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.
