Dwayne Johnson is turning to country music, toplining and producing a biopic of black country music star Charley Pride.
Besides Johnson, producers are Dany Garcia, Randy Jackson and Pride's manager John Daines in association with Sony ATV Music Publishing.
Country Music Hall of Famer Pride, one of 11 children born to Mississippi sharecroppers, has charted more than three dozen No. 1 singles and has sold more than 70 million records.
Johnson's starring in Universal's "Fast Five," which opens domestically today, and is starring in New Line's "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island." Pride disclosed Johnson's attachment Thursday in an interview with the Telegraph-Journal of New Brunswick, Canada.
