Perennial bubble show Chuck has apparently avoided cancellation once again. While NBC sources are not confirming that the spy-fi series will get a fifth season, several sources are reporting that a deal is being hammered out with Warner Bros. and is imminent.
Though the ratings have been at their lowest this spring, Warner Bros. would love to make a deal, because five seasons of Chuck means syndication. As for NBC, well, scripted drama has not been the network's friend. That said, don't be surprised if we get a shorter 13-episode final season.
So, while it looks like fans won't have to eat mountains of Subway sandwiches to save Chuck as they did to insure a third season of the show, there are no such hopeful murmurings for The Event, which has even lower ratings. The alien conspiracy series is not likely to be renewed.
