Empire talked to Ben Stiller about the trials and tribulations of bringing the much-loved comedy to the screen, as well as touching on the sequel. That’s right, Zoolander 2, ladies and gentlemen – now with extra-added Magnum.
So, the details: Boasting a strong European vibe, it’ll take place 10 years after Zoolander, with Derek and Hansel cast aside by an industry in which, “ten years is a thousand years. They’re both totally out of it and have to start from scratch.”
Close to going, you say? Really? Stuart Cornfeld, Stiller’s producing partner since Zoolander, seems slightly less optimistic about its appearance on the big screen, saying: “It’s hard to get any movie made. It’s frustrating, because I believe the script is incredible. It’s not just putting on those costumes again, it’s a great story to tell.”
“We’ve got what I consider to be the best comedy script I’ve read in years and years, with jokes that haven’t been told before,” he adds.
In other words, it’s all really, really, ridiculously good-looking.
