BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

NBC’s The Event In Trouble?

A musical episode of House powered Fox to the ratings win on Tuesday night, while two hours of The Bachelor gave ABC a close second. But the two-hour return of NBC’s The Event tumbled double-digits compared to its last original in November.

House pulled in a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.1 million viewers overall. It was flat week-to-week, but still the top-rated show of the night. The Chicago Code continued to put up middling ratings (2.1, 7.5 million) and was also flat week-to-week.

The Bachelor (8-10 p.m.) was down 11% week-to-week but still gave ABC a win in the 9 p.m. hour (3.2, 10.2 million).

It was a disastrous return for NBC’s The Event, which was down 26% from its previous original on November 29, averaging a 1.4 rating with 5.2 million viewers from 8-10 p.m. And while NBC points to the show’s better-than-average DVR numbers (38% in live-plus-seven), the live ratings still do not bode well for the show’s future prospects.

CBS had a lineup of mostly reruns including a Two and a Half Men, of course. But while star Charlie Sheen is still making headlines and was again the center of a media storm yesterday when Men studio Warner Bros. Television fired the actor, it had no discernable effect on the show’s performance. Last night, Men averaged a 2.8 rating in the demo with 10.1 million viewers overall, down about 5% from its season-to-date rerun average. New comedy Mad Love (2.4, 7.2 million) was the net’s only original last night and it was down 11% for its weakest tune-in to date.

For the night Fox averaged a 2.9 rating with 9.2 million viewers overall followed by ABC (2.5, 8.5 million), CBS (2.3, 8.0 million), NBC (1.5, 6.6 million) and Univision (1.5, 4.0 million). Reruns of 90201 and Gossip Girls (0.2, 601,000 viewers) barely kept the lights on at CW.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
