BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Superman Will Be Ballsy In The Upcoming Movie

Sure Zack Snyder can bring epic comic book tales to the screen – he proved that with Watchmen and 300 – but given the level of sex and violence in the director’s output, he may not seem like the perfect choice for a character as old-fashioned and wholesome as Superman. Snyder tells SFX, the real reason he’s agreed to direct the next Superman movie – currently titled Superman: The Man of Steel – is the film’s take on the character, as conceived by the Batman creative team of David Goyer and Christopher Nolan.

“My feeling about Superman is that I’ve been a fan of the character for a long time. But the question for me was always, ‘What can you do with Superman in a modern world?’ And I think the amazing thing that Chris and David have created, that I’m working on now, and the reason why I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll do that,’ was that they found that in him. They found the why in him. That’s the exciting part for me.”

And just how will Snyder’s Superman differ from previous incarnations of the character? The filmmaker’s tight-lipped but hints at what we can expect from someone whose visions are, more often than not, visceral.

“I can’t really talk about that without being kind of specific,” says Snyder. “But I can say I think Superman needs to be physical.”

He can lift a 747 with his bare hands, punch through steel walls like tissue, and crush a tank like it was an egg shell...you bet your ass he should be more physical.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure
