Tron Animated Series On It's Way

TRON: Uprising Coming To Disney XD

Disney has registered the TRONUprising.com domain, stitchkingdom performed a wee bit of research and discovered some links between the new title and a previously announced animated project to debut on Disney XD in fall of 2011.

TRON: Uprising’ (as we assume) will be a 10-part ‘microseries’ in which a young program named Beck stands up against an evil regime headed by Clu who obtains his status after the defeat of TRON, the security watchdog program

Further news from the Disney Channel/Disney XD upfront the other night includes development on a new CG animated Tron series and animated project called Motorcity, both for Disney XD. Note that neither series has officially gotten the green light as of yet.

* Based on the upcoming Disney feature film Tron: Legacy (December 17, 2010), the animated Tron series is a prequel so that future Tron movies and the series can co-exist. A production of Disney Television Animation the animated Tron series takes viewers inside a computer system where a young program named Beck stands against the oppressive regime of an evil program, Clu, who grows unchecked after defeating Tron the legendary system defense program. The kid-targeted series will be preceded by a 10-part micro-series that will premiere in fall 2011 on Disney XD. The CG animated Tron TV series project is being penned by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, with Charlie Bean serving as the director of project.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce.
