Black Widow Not Only Other Female Lead In Upcoming Avengers Film
Joss Whedon, director of Marvel's most anticipated film The Avengers, shares a few of his plans for the superhero-ensemble flick with The Sunday Herald-Sun. Not only discussing if there were any specific story arcs from the comics used for the film, but Whedon also sheds light on Black Widow, who Scarlett Johansson introduced in Iron Man 2, and whether or not she'll be the only female assembling next summer.
"It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger", But she will not be the only female character". With speculation swirling around that Marvel Studios may be considering British actress Alice Eve for a minor villain role, affirms that Johansson's Black Widow won't be the only female in the film.

On the film's storyline, Whedon says, "It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles."
