Star Trek's Zachary Quinto Clears The Air About Star Trek 2
Star Trek's Zachary Quinto is clarifying remarks he made to Wired that he was taking a break from the franchise for two years.
Here's what he said:
"I'm stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years—no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while," Quinto told Wired.com in a telephone interview. His planned absence from geekdom was a major motivation for doing the new game. "I did this game to make an investment in the fan base," the actor said.
But on his Twitter feed Thursday, Quinto elaborated on what he meant:
to clarify: i've been inundated w/questions/confusion about a comment i made during an interview w/ @wired re: atari star trek online game in which i said i'm stepping away from trek for next 2 yrs. obviously, i'll be a part of any upcoming films, reprising my role as spock.
what i meant was that in the meantime i won't be making appearances related to the franchise or doing auxiliary projects in trek universe.
i'll be focusing my efforts on other projects & preparing to shoot the next film, which will be released in june of 2012... 2 yrs from now.
worry not trekkers. it was a misunderstanding of context. i am not spock. but i am spock. all at the same time. ll & p. zq.
Quinto provides the voice of a holographic doctor, the Emergency Medical Hologram Mark VI, in the new Star Trek Online MMO, but doesn't voice Spock, Wired reported.
