Scarlet Fire Entertainment is set to produce a film adaptation of Brit scribe Adam Hamdy's comic, "The Hunter." Hamdy will adapt the screenplay.
The 2007 Dare Comics debut release is a contemporary superhero comic set against the backdrop of organized crime. Through print and online distribution, "Hunter" has reached 130,000 readers.
Hamdy will produce along with Scarlet Fire's Steven Pearl and Allan Loeb, the co-writer of "21" and "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." Scarlet Fire exec Shane Abrahams first brought the comic to the company.
"We're extremely pleased to be working with Scarlet Fire," said Hamdy, who founded Dare Comics. "They understood 'The Hunter' immediately, and saw in it the potential to create a compelling new universe that loyal fans and newcomers alike will love seeing come to life on the big screen."
Hamdy will create an original Hunter story for the film iteration.
"Not only is Adam an accomplished writer, he is an innovative entrepreneur," said Steven Pearl. "He's succeeded in building a new superhero brand virtually single-handed in a market that is dominated by big companies with very deep pockets."
