BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Is My Wife Turning Into A Facebook Addict? Dam You Farmville/Mafia Wars!

Is My Wife Turning Into A Facebook Addict? Dam You Farmville/Mafia Wars!
Hello, my name is April and I am a Facebook addict. I finally signed up for a Facebook account about six months ago after a lot of my friends kept telling me I needed one. It started out innocently enough. I would check it every couple days just to see what people had posted. Maybe take a few quizzes. Then I discovered Farmville.

At first I was just checking on my farm every couple of days, trying to figure out the game. Then my husband started playing it and he soon had a higher score than me. I couldn't let that happen. I was then checking the farm every day. As I started to understand how to play the game better I was checking it a couple times a day. I was sending requests to my friends to be my neighbor so I could get an even bigger farm. Then I started getting the requests to play Mafia Wars. I am now playing online at least 3-4 times a day and my friends are probably getting annoyed with all my requests for them to play with me.

So what is the draw of these games? We first get sucked in by our friends. They want us to join their mafia or be their neighbor. You think why not? I'll just play once or a couple times. Then I think our competitive nature comes into play. We want to be the one with the highest score or the most money. A big part for me is escapism. When you are having a crappy day at work it helps to take a few minutes and escape to a place where you are a farmer or a member of the mafia . Somewhere where you are successful at what you are doing. The games are made by Zynga.
Zynga was founded in July 2007 with the vision of connecting the world through games. Since then we’ve dedicated ourselves to making fun and social games for people to play with their friends and have become the largest developer of social games on the web in the process. Zynga games provide a platform for players to express themselves and form deep social connections with their friends. With a catalogue that ranges from casino games to role playing games, our games can be found on most social networks According to their own website, as of March 2009, they had 46 million monthly active users and 71 million registered users.

Now the big trick is trying to make sure that I don't really become an addict (although John may say I already am). I know I am on the boarder when my daughters know all about my farm and my mafia.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
