BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Heroes Season 4 Premiere Review

Heroes Season 4 Premiere Review
By April Meneghetti

The show opens with a funeral for the brother of the leader of a group of carnies that are going to have a big role this season. The leader is a man named Samuel played by Robert Knepper, who I loved in Prison Break. This guy really knows how to play the bad guy so that you like him, in a sick twisted way.

We see our “heroes” scattered, living their own lives. Clare is away at college, Peter is back to working as a paramedic, Hero and Ando are back in Japan , Matt is back at the police dept, and Nathan (or should I say Sylar) is back to work as a politician.

Is it just me or is there something off about Clare’s new college buddy? Does she have a power? Did she kill Clare’s new roommate? I guess we will have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, I don’t see Clare having the normal college experience.

Peter is back to using his powers for good and saving lives. I have to say that I hated it when he lost his powers. I think that was one of the worst story lines of the past seasons. But will it last? We see him getting involved with H.R.G. towards the end of the episode.

Hero and Ando start a new business “Dial a Hero”. Their first call? Saving a cat stuck up on a building. Not the start that Hero was looking for but it will work. We find out that Hero began his quest to become a “hero” 14 years prior when he got a certain fortune at a carnival. We also find out that Ando has always had a crush on Hero’s sister, Kimiko, but at that same carnival he spilled his slushie on her favorite dress and she has hated him ever since. Hero accidentally teleports himself back to that night but refuses to change the past even though it might help him now if he never started on his quest. He meets Samuel who convinces Hero that it might be good to change some things in the past when he prevents Ando from spilling is slushie on Kimiko and sees that they are now in love when he returns to the present.

Angela is worried that Nathan is reverting back to Sylar and rightly so. Sylar’s abilities are starting to manifest. Angela tries to get Matt to help her but he has sworn off using his powers (he is trying to start a life again with his wife and son). One of the funniest scenes for me this episode was Matt at a drug user support group talking about not “using”. Matt is starting to be haunted and taunted by Sylar who wants his body back.

Lastly, we see Tracy again as she tries to kill HRG. Danko arrives just in time to save him but Danko doesn’t last much longer than that. Thankfully he is killed off this episode. I really didn’t like his character. At the end of the episode it looks like HRG and Tracy will be teaming up.

I think that this was a great episode and glad to see that it looks like the series is back on track.

Overnight ratings are in, and the Heroes’ Season 4 two-hour premiere came in … dead last. Only a meager 6 million viewers tuned into the show, down a staggering 46% from last year’s season premiere, according to THR.
